On September 27, 2016 the regular Meeting of National Television and Radio Council was held and current situation on transition to digital televisionAt the Meeting according to the article 5.1.7 of the Action Plan on implementation of “State Program 2016-2020 on National Strategy on development of Information Society in Azerbaijan” which was approved by Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 20, 2016 the National Television and Radio Council adopted Decision on analogue terrestrial broadcasting switch-off of all national TV channels which is being broadcasted in Baku and Absheron Peninsula as of November 1, 2016 and in other regions of the country as of December 1, 2016.
It was recommended to television and radio broadcasters and relevant bodies to carry out appropriate literacy works on this issue due to usage of set-top-boxes (STB) in DVB-T or DVB-T2 standards for receiving terrestrial television programs by analog TV receivers, meanwhile, entrepreneurs were advised to ensure conducting of sales of these set-top-boxes.
Also citizens were addressed:
“According to the Decision 10 of National Television and Radio Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted on September 27, 2016 analogue broadcasting in Baku and Absheron Peninsula will be switched of as November 1, 2016.
On the next stage, the analogue switch off will be implemented in other parts of the country as of December 1, 2016.
All TV viewers are invited to obtain set-top-boxes (STB) – decoders for viewing terrestrial television broadcasting via existing analogue TV receivers.”
